We congratulate Dina Buchbinder Auron, alumna of the International Relations Undergraduate Program at ITAM, for receiving the 2024 Wayfinder Award, presented by The National Geographic Society. Dina is the only Mexican among the 15 honorees this year, recognized for her contributions at both the national and international levels.
The National Geographic Society announced the 15 National Geographic New Explorers as winners of the 2024 Wayfinder Award, highlighting their innovative work in science, conservation, education, technology and narrative. These individuals are recognized for pushing limits and furthering the Society’s mission of illuminating and protecting our world’s marvels.
Alex Moen, explorers compromise director at National Geographic Society, added:
“These individuals have shown themselves as the next generation of leaders and influential innovators, and we are delighted to recognize them for their pioneer work in a variety of projects fueled by impact”.
Dina Buchbinder Auron, a visionary social entrepreneur, was recognized for her work for in Education for Sharing, an organization that is revolutionizing children’s education with a innovative methodology of “play, reflect, act”. This initiative uses cooperative games, physical activities and project development to teach children critical abilities for life, like collaboration, racial and gender equality, entrepreneurship spirit, financial education and sustainable development.
Since their launch in Mexico in 2007, Education for Sharing has impacted 1.8 million of children, educators and parents in 13 countries, helping them to become “global citizens” and agents for social and climate change. Dina Buchbinder has been acknowledged as a global emerging leader by the Harvard Kennedy School, is a member of Ashoka and EHF, and has been a TEDx speaker, committed to furthering education for sustainable development.
Besides receiving a monetary prize to support her work, Dina and the other honorees will be celebrated during the National Geographic Society’s Annual Explorers Festival in Washington, D.C. This award is part of the Society’s Wayfinder Program, which offers the honorees the opportunity to ask for funding for their next big projects.
