ITAM students Erik Bazán, Valentín Méndez and Ulises Mejía have developed a payment method that uses fingerprints to make payments. The method provides security because one does not need a debit card or cash to make a purchase. The students were supported by ITAM’s Center for Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, EPIC Lab, which they said has been key in the process of planning, developing and implementing the idea.

Bazán is studying business engineering, Valentín Méndez is in the undergraduate program in economics and Ulises Mejía is a computer science student.

Their goal is to expand the biometrics Digital Cash system beyond the five businesses where it is used so the service will be available to a greater number of users. The young entrepreneurs, who are seeking seed funding, said they are not afraid of competitors and are sure they can extend their market to new borders.
