Congratulations to Fernanda Sotil, a student in industrial engineering and business engineering, who founded EMMA, a startup that won the Student Entrepreneur Award given by the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO). EMMA’s objective is to link the aged with health care services.

The Entrepreneurs Organization is a platform to support entrepreneurs and has become a leader in the field. The contest, now in its sixth year in Mexico, is supported by the largest entrepreneurial
community in the world, covering 48 countries. Four hundred entrepreneurs registered for this year’s event.

EMMA’s goal is to bring together older people with health care providers that work with that age group and with companions who share interests and hobbies with them. EMMA also was awarded first place in the MIT Global Founders’ Skills Accelerator in 2015 at ITAM. Members of the team had the opportunity to develop their idea during a summer at MIT. Sotil will have the opportunity to represent Mexico in Thailand at the finals of the international competition.
