On Tuesday, December 9, 2014, in ITAM campus Río Hondo, the Antonio Bassols Zaleta classroom was inaugurated in honor of ITAM's emeritus professor.
Family, authorities, professors, and several generations of alumni gathered at the Rio Hondo campus to accompany Mr. Antonio Bassols, in tribute to his work and career as a professor (1970-2008) at ITAM. The event took place in classroom 112, in which a plaque was put up in his honor.
This was followed by another event in the Professors room, where Arturo Fernández, ITAM's Rector, and Pedro Aspe gave speeches recognizing the professor's commitment. On his part, the professor talked through anecdotes about his time in the university as student, a professor, and as head of the Economics' Department.
Antonio Bassols Zaleta studied Economics at ITAM and holds a Master's degree in Administration from the Technological Institute of Higher Education (ITESM). He dedicated a great part of his life to teaching. In this sector he worked as: Full-time Emeritus Professor at ITAM, Director of the Institute of Professional Studies for Management of Recreation, and professor at UNAM, the University of Hidalgo, the University of Guanajuato, UNITEC, and ITESM. From 1990-1996 he was ITAM's Director of the Undergraduate Program in Economics, and from 1996-1998 he was Academic Secretary of the National Association of Economists of Mexico.
