Congratulations to Leonardo Javier Ferrer García de Alba, Computer Science and Mechatronics Engineering student, for being selected to participate in the University Research Experience program at the University of California-Davis.

Leonardo was selected along with other 25 college students from around the country, among 400 candidates, to take part in a research project during the summer.

The selection committee included representatives from the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Relations, the University of California, and the U.S. Embassy in Mexico, among others.

Leonardo will be working with Jesús de Loera, Ph.D., from the Mathematics Department, on his research on computer optimization and geometry. De Loera is Mexican and one of the main promoters of this program.
