The matches for qualification to the Regionals were held on March 13th.  Both matches, boys and girls, took place at our institution. The girls’ team faced ESEF (the College of Physical Education). ITAM was leading during the last three halves of the match thus earning them a 6-2 victory and our Institution´s qualification to the Regionals.  The girls’ team also earned first place in the group. The boys’ team also faced UPN (the National Pedagogical University). Despite being down a player and losing with a  score of 6-5 , the team were able to  tie and pass to the shoot-outs round.  Due to their outstanding performance, they were able to recover in the shootouts with a 2-0 lead causing them to qualify to the Regionals.

In the Regional tournament, organized by the National Sports Council for Education (CONDDE), the top 8 teams from the central area (Mexico City, Guerrero, the State of Mexico, and Morelos) , will create two groups of four teams each. At the end of the tournament, , the top 2 teams in  each group will go to the semifinals and, they will automatically qualify to  go through to the next round at the National University which will be held in the city of Puebla.
