Conferencia Magistral en Computación "Initial steps towards Assistive Augmentation", Dr. Suranga Nanayakkara
12 de septiembre de 2013
De 10.00 a 11.30 h
Auditorio Raúl Baillères, Río Hondo

Bio: Dr. Suranga Nanayakkara is an Assistant Professor at the Engineering Product Development Pillar of Singapore University of Technology and Design. He directs the Augmented Senses Research Group to explore technologies for enhancing sensory and cognitive abilities of humans.

Abstract:Nowadays, digital cameras have greater sensitivity to light changes than the human eye and modern buildings incorporate a variety of sensors for collecting data. However, these technologies are often disconnected from humans. We focus on creating new ways of sensory augmentation to enhance human perception by developing technologies that seamlessly integrate with our bodies and behavior. We explore questions such as: can we create ways of feeling things without touching them? This talk will present several approaches that use multi/cross modal interfaces for enhancing human I/O in the application areas including assistive/rehabilitative designs, and interactive learning technologies.
