Sustainable Development and Industry: Managing Corporate Sustainability
08 de septiembre de 2003
De 16.30 a 18.00 h
Auditorio Raúl Baillères, Río Hondo

This seminar will explore the use of corporate sustainability as a tool which can help companies to manage and improve their ‘triple bottom line’: economic, environmental, and social and ethical performance. A framework for a Corporate Sustainability Management System (CSMS) will be presented to show how the general principles of sustainable development can be translated into corporate practice. Developed in collaboration with industry, the CSMS provides a systematic, step-by-step guidance for improving the triple bottom line through sustainable economic development and environmental protection, while complying with legislation and encouraging socially and ethically responsible business values. The application of the CSMS will be illustrated on suitable examples and case studies.Los seminarios son parte de un proyecto organizado por el Departamento de Ingeniería Industrial del ITAM y auspiciado por las Naciones Unidas, UNESCO, Universidad de Surrey, Third World Academy of Science y el International Council for Science.
