With outsourcing comes new demands for social and technological solutions to service-oriented architectures (SOAs). According to John Seely Brown, former Chief Scientist at Xerox and CGU honorary doctor of humane letters, today’s organizations must develop rigorous and effective methods for working together if they expect to benefit from phenomena such as off-shore outsourcing. Designing effective SOAs requires knowledge that is gained in the masters and doctoral curriculum, which emphasizes a mixture of technical and managerial education.
