Resumen:
Quantum computers, if ever built, will be capable of performing tasks that are simply impossible for nowadays computers. One of these tasks is the possibility of breaking the very commonly used cryptosystem called the RSA. The extra source of power of quantum computers stems from the fact that they will be based on the extremely counter intuitive theory of quantum mechanics. I will explain what we might expect from such computers, what are their underlying principles, and what are the challenges that we are facing before we can have a quantum computer on our desk.
