ABSTRACT: Exponential and logistic demographic models are presented for a population with a sexually transmitted disease. A proportion of the healthy individuals is assumed to segregate into non-reproductive groups (such as life-long homosexuals, priests, etc) and another proportion of infected individuals is assumed to segregate into isolation from sexual activity (e.g. for herpes simplex during infectious outbreaks). We show that when the growth rate of the population is in a certain range, the segregation succeeds in eliminating the disease without extinguishing the population. Extensions and future work will be discussed.
